Why Australia Needs an R18+ Rating For Video Games - Rant

Today I was in the Wollongong EBGames and I saw a little kid, no older than 7 begging his mother to buy him Grand Theft Auto 4. This got me thinking; this is a perfect example of why we need a R18+ rating in Australia.

Luckily in this example the parent said no, but this raises unfortunate implications. What if somewhere out there, there are 7 year old children playing the likes of Grand Thaft Auto 4 (I already see them walking around with iPods /iPhones. When I was a kid all I had was a clunky old pc with Windows 3.1).

My Proposal
So if the R18+ legislation is introduced all R18+ games will be kept in a glass cabinet behind the counter so the children don’t know about the games and won’t pester their parents to buy the offensive games.

Stupid Michael Atkinson (Attorney General of South Australia who keeps stopping the R18+ legislation from reaching the senate).

Anyway, I know no one will read this but it makes you think…
